Yet Another Byte

I’m getting very annoyed with EFTPOS devices that don’t show the amount when you enter the PIN number. I mean, isn’t the whole point to be able to check the amount, authenticate that you’re you, then confirm that you authorise the transaction (btw, single-factor security theatre sucks, but that’s another story)? I asked for a receipt just tonight coz I couldn’t see how much had been entered. They tell you the amount usually, but who knows what was actually typed in? $22.40? $224.0? $2240?!? Seems like someone forgot a key part of the puzzle, there /rant
